Uses of This Medicine
Quinupristin and dalfopristin injection is used to treat infections of the skin and the blood. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor. It is given by injection and is used mainly for serious infection for which other medicine may not work.
Quinupristin and dalfopristin belong to the family of medicine called antibiotics. Antibiotics are medicines used in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria. They work by killing bacteria or preventing their growth. Quinupristin and dalfopristin will not work for colds, flu, or other virus infections.
This medicine is available only with your doctor’s prescription.

How To Use
Injectable
Your doctor will prescribe your exact dose and tell you how often it will be given.
Your medicine will be given directly into a vein, usually in your arm or chest. This is called intravenous (in-tra-VEEN-ous), or IV.
A nurse or other caregiver trained to give IV infusions will give your medicine.
If a dose is missed:
It is very important to use this medicine on a regular schedule. Make sure your doctor knows if you miss a dose.
How to Store and Dispose of This Medicine:
If you store this medicine at home, it is best to keep it in the refrigerator. Do not freeze.
Throw away used needles in a hard, closed container that the needles cannot poke through. Keep this container away from children and pets.
Ask your pharmacist, doctor, or health caregiver about the best way to dispose of any leftover medicine, containers, and other supplies. You will also need to throw away old medicine after the expiration date has passed.
Keep all medicine away from children and never share your medicine with anyone.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
Before using this medicine, tell your doctor if you are using cyclosporine, nifedipine (Procardia®), or midazolam (Versed®).
When Not To Use
You should not use this medicine if you have ever had an allergic reaction to quinupristin, dalfopristin, or similar medicines such as pristinamycin or virginiamycin.
Warnings
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.
Make sure your doctor knows if you have liver disease before using this medicine.
If your infection does not improve, or if it gets worse while using this medicine, talk to your doctor.
If you have severe diarrhea while using this medicine, check with your doctor before taking medicine to stop the diarrhea.
