Uses of This Medicine
Nystatin belongs to the group of medicines called antifungals. The dry powder, lozenge (pastille), and liquid forms of this medicine are used to treat fungus infections in the mouth.
Nystatin is available only with your doctor’s prescription.
Once a medicine has been approved for marketing for a certain use, experience may show that it is also useful for other medical problems. Although this use is not included in product labeling, nystatin is used in certain patients with the following medical condition:
Candidiasis, oral (fungus infection of the mouth) (prevention)

How To Use
Lozenge, Capsule, Liquid, Powder for Suspension, Tablet
Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use and how often. Use the medicine for as long as your doctor told you to, even if your symptoms are gone.
Shake the oral liquid well just before each dose. Measure your dose with the dropper that comes with the medicine. Keep the medicine in your mouth for as long as possible. Swish it around, gargle, and swallow.
Add 1/8 teaspoonful of the dry powder to 1/2 cup of water. Stir well. Keep this mixture in your mouth for as long as possible. Swish it around, gargle, and swallow.
Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush or chew.
Let the lozenge melt slowly in your mouth. Do not chew or swallow it whole.
Do not give the lozenge to infants or children younger than 5 years old.
If a dose is missed:
Use the missed dose as soon as possible.
If it is almost time for your next regular dose, wait until then to use your medicine and skip the missed dose.
You should not use two doses at the same time.
How to Store and Dispose of This Medicine:
Store the lozenges or powder in the refrigerator.
Store the oral liquid or tablets at room temperature in a tightly closed container away from heat, direct light, and moisture. Do not freeze.
Ask your pharmacist, doctor, or health caregiver about the best way to dispose of any outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed.
Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.

When Not To Use
You should not use this medicine if you have ever had an allergic reaction to nystatin.
