Just a generation ago, it was adults, not kids, who changed genders. But today, many children are transitioning, too — with new medical options, and at younger and younger ages.
But what is it really like growing up trans? On July 1, at 3 p.m. EST, FRONTLINE will host a Google Hangout with Karen O’Connor and Miri Navasky, the filmmakers behind our new film Growing Up Trans; Dr. Robert Garofalo, a doctor from Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago who works with some of the children in the film; and Christy Hegarty, the mother of Lia Hegarty, 9, whose transition is featured in the film. Also joining us will be YouTuber, musician, and activist Skylar Kergil, who was just named one of the “11 Transgender People Who Are Shifting Our Views In 2015,” by Buzzfeed.
Please join our Google Hangout here, where you can leave a question in advance. You can also watch it live or replay it afterwards in the below window.
