Annals On Call – a new podcast

    by rcentor August 7, 2018

I am delighted to announce that you can listen to the first episode of our new podcast – Annals On Call.

The first episode is titled – The Gout Wars.

These podcasts will have a length of approximately 30 minutes.  In them I discuss an Annals of Internal Medicine article with an expert (sometimes one of the authors).  We go into depth to understand the article and its implications.

I have already recorded 8 episodes.  They will come out twice each month.  Of course I will always tweet releases.

We started planning this podcast over 1 year ago.  I started recording around 4 months ago.

Many of the episodes delve into controversy.  I love to understand disagreements, especially in guidelines.  In a world of evidence based medicine, the interpretation of the evidence often  leads to different conclusions.  By discussing these controversies I hope that we can all better understand how to individualize care in a patient centered fashion.

Until several episodes are released, we will not be available on iTunes and other podcast aggregators.  Until then you can either listen on the internet or download the mp3.

I hope you will provide feedback.  What do you like about the podcasts?  How can I improve them?

I would love suggestions on articles that deserve discussion.  I have already recorded one episode on an article from the 1990s, so older articles are fair game.  I would also appreciate suggestions for guests.

This is a very exciting day!
